Storing the OnTracx sensor

Storing the OnTracx sensor

Just like any trusty companion, your OnTracx sensor needs a little love now and then. Here are some instructions on how store the sensor in a proper way.

When you're not actively using your OnTracx sensor, proper storage is crucial to ensure its lifespan and avoid potential damage. Here are some key guidelines:

  • Temperature: Store the sensor in a cool, dry place with moderate temperatures. Avoid extreme heat or cold, as this can degrade the battery and internal components. Aim for a range of 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F).

  • Moisture: Keep the sensor away from moisture and humidity, which can cause corrosion and electrical damage. Do not store it near water sources or in bathrooms.

  • Sunlight: Direct sunlight can also damage the sensor's components. Choose a storage location with shade or limited sun exposure.

If you don't plan to use the sensor for an extended period (over a month), consider removing the battery to prevent potential leakage or damage due to continuous power draw.

If you want to replace the batter, please read the following instructions carefully.

If the storage temperature is below -20°C /-5°F, allow the device’s internal temperature to stabilize for 10 min before use.

It is not advisable to leave the OnTracx sensor  in the car in summer, as temperatures can rise above 50 °C.

When the sensor is not in use, do not allow the two metal studs to simultaneously contact an electrically conductive medium. If the studs are connected, for example via a metal surface or a moist fabric, the sensor will remain powered on and this will unnecessarily consume the battery.
