7. Pain and comfort scores

It's important to give context to your runs, and to follow-up on pain and comfort scores over time. The following screen allows you to do this:

The pain scores you indicate should reflect pain scores over your entire run. Pain scores vary from 0 (no pain) to 10 (abort running due to the pain)

How to interpret discomfort and pain?

Idea
Discomfort = "a feeling that does not hinder you, but you think about it sometimes."
Pain = "a feeling that hinders you and distracts you from running quite frequently"

In the following table, you can find more information on how to interpret the pain score:

RPE, or Rating of Perceived Exertion, is a simple yet powerful way to measure how hard a runner feels they worked during a session. It provides valuable subjective insight that complements objective data like distance, speed, and mechanical load. In the OnTracx app, we capture RPE after each running session to better understand an athlete's internal response to their training. By tracking RPE over time, we can identify patterns in fatigue, assess training intensity, and ensure that load progression aligns with the perceived intensity.
